London...1/2 day and first full day...

So, we finally made it to our first stop on our Euro tour, London. We arrived here on the 30th around noon and checked into our beautiful hotel. The first thing we noticed when we got off the underground to go to our hotel (actually even before that) is that we now know where Jonathan's heritage lies. He is most definitely of English descent. About 50% of the people here look like they could be his cousin.
After we got settled we decided to explore a bit and found ourselves at an interesting little cafe a few blocks from where we were staying.

.
We had some yummy espresso and a big waffle that tasted kind of like a doughnut. Then we got a little lost but finally made our way back.

(This book has come in handy...it tells you places all about whatever city/area you're in and gives you a ton of info.)

London is a beautiful city. The architecture is a mixture of very old and also modern. We've spent a lot of time in the Trafalgar square/Covent Garden area. There are a lot of little shops and cafes there. We've been taking busses everywhere which is great but learning how to read a bus route is kind of confusing when you've never had to do it. But we're pro now! :)

On our first full day, today, we took a bus tour of the whole city and were able to get out and take some really great pictures (p.s. I apologize because a lot of these are of me, you know how Jonathan is when it comes to the camera...but I have been trying to take over a bit. ha) It was a typical rainy day at first. Kind of felt like thats how you are supposed to see London...

This is Tower Bridge, most people think its London Bridge, but that's not correct. Our tour guide was excited because she said the bridge is never up like that when she gives tours.

Big Ben!

Now comes Westminster Abby, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I could look at it all day!

We saw a lot of other cool places too. Some of them we weren't able to take pictures of but hopefully will get to them tomorrow...Hyde park, Buckingham Palace, Harrods :) and many more!

This was our tour guide...she doesn't look it but she was so funny and nice! My friend Amy and I have always talked about how we want a nanny to tuck us in bed at night and read us stories, well she's my pick.

We also had some fun in the phone booths....

There he is!!

We also went to the HUGE British History museum. We tooks lots of pictures there but it's getting late so we'll post more tomorrow. We've had a big day :)
Some of the things we noticed about the city is that 1. If you say "y'all", people give you weird looks...2. It's one of the most diverse places we've ever experienced.....3. Its super crowded. And people will run into you if you don't move out of there way....4. The weather is amazing...it's been about 65-70 here....but 5. Even though the weather is wonderful, it doesn't make up for the no AC in the hotel rooms...there's lots more, but like I said, it's late so we'll post more tomorrow! Up next...British Museum and Harry Potter movie tour :)
